An engineer, a therapist, and a data analyst walk into a recreation center. It sounds like the setup for a joke, but it turned into the beginning of a business that’s revolutionizing pickleball.

We’re pretty sure we never would’ve met without pickleball. The sport brought us together—first as competitors, then as friends. For months, we’d meet at the recreation center, playing games, sharing laughs, and talking while waiting for our turn on the court. Those bleacher-side conversations laid the foundation for something we never expected: a company.

The idea for J3 Sport Solutions was born the way many great ideas are—through solving a problem. Portable pickleball nets are crucial to the game, but we kept running into the same issue: broken or unreliable nets interrupting play. Frustration turned into inspiration, and we started brainstorming.

Our diverse backgrounds came in handy. The engineer brought technical know-how, the therapist brought creativity, and the data analyst ensured we took a practical, data-driven approach. Together, we began designing a better way to fix portable nets. After countless rounds of testing, tweaking, and testing again, we created NETSHIELD, our first product. It’s durable, reliable, and built to keep the game going—no more interruptions.
